Potentially offering a range of 275 miles, Sony-Honda’s first electric vehicle is scheduled to make its US debut
The two most illustrious Japanese corporations, Sony Group and Honda Motor, have been working together for 2.5 years, and now they’re ready to begin taking orders for their first electric vehicle.
The Afeela, a fully electric vehicle developed by Sony Honda Mobility (SHM), will be showcased at the CES 2025 in Las Vegas, Nevada, next month.
Debut in the USA
On January 7, 2025, SHM will be present at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas, Nevada, USA.
The joint venture will give a talk at the Sony Group’s press conference on January 6, right before the public show.
More information regarding the official debut of Afeela in 2025 will be revealed at SHM’s first solo news conference on January 7.
In the run-up to its 2025 release, the CES booth will feature the most recent model revisions.
Exhibited automobiles and other visual content will highlight the newest AFEELA projects and details regarding their concept of “Autonomy (evolving autonomy), Augmentation (extension of the body, time and space) and Affinity (affinity with people, and coexistence with society)”.
Launching its first mass-produced electric vehicle model in 2025, the brand “Afeela” plans to “redefine the relationship between people and mobility” by 2026.
Sony and Honda’s First Electric Car
The sedan will feature all-wheel drive and be powered by 241 horsepower, delivered by two electric motors—one on each axle.
Although we do not yet have a combined horsepower rating, we are interested in an electric automobile that could produce more than 400 horsepower.
According to the manufacturer, the car will have a staggered tire configuration with broader tires at the back and an air-spring suspension.
We have not yet determined the Afeela’s estimated range, but it will include a 91.0 kWh battery pack that is wedged between the floorboards of the vehicle. Fast chargers can support charging capacities of up to 150 KW, according to the manufacturer.

Looking inside the Afeela EV sedan, one can see a number of futuristic features, one of which is a steering wheel with a U-shaped yoke design, which appears to be influenced by the Tesla Model S Plaid.
A rotary controller, visible front of the center armrest, grants access to the car’s fully digital dashboard, and the cabin is illuminated by ambient lighting.
We won’t know for sure when the car goes on sale, but it has a clean and uncluttered design and what appears to be a roomy cabin for a sedan.
No official word on the sedan’s range yet, but it might be able to go 250–275 miles on a single charge.
Furthermore, SHM has chosen to offer Afeela in the US using Ridevu, an in-car entertainment service created by Sony Pictures Entertainment for the automotive sector.
SHM’s mission is to explore mobility as a platform for artistic entertainment. Customers may now buy or rent hundreds of feature films from Sony Pictures Entertainment’s premium content catalog through the RIDEVU app and watch them whenever they wish.
In its role as a mobility tech company, SHM will bring forth advances in mobility that impact people’s senses and behavior by connecting varied inspirations and pursuing cutting-edge technology.
