Getting started
What is Torq?
Torq is speed and athletic development training for high school athletes. We test you, build a 12-week plan just for you, and retest to measure your progress.
Who is it for?
High school athletes in grades 9 to 12. It's built to make you faster for your sport.
Do I have to be a sprinter?
No. We pick a speed test that fits your sport and build your plan around it.
Can beginners join?
Yes, as long as you're willing to put in the work.
Can I do this during my season?
Yes. You can train with us alongside your team or club practices and games.
How do I sign up?
Book a free intro call. It takes 15 minutes. If it's a good fit, we set up a 30-minute onboarding call to plan your start.
When can I start?
Any week. Your 12 weeks (about 3 months) begin on Day 1.
Where are you based?
Massachusetts. Online training works from anywhere.
What do I need to join?
All athletes need access to a gym, plus a track, turf or field, whether they train online or in person.
How it works
What does the 12 weeks look like?
Day 1: speed test. Weeks 1 to 6: your custom program. Week 6: retest. Weeks 7 to 12: a new block built on your results. Week 12: final test.
Is my program really custom?
Yes. We build each plan from scratch after your intake and Day 1 test. There's no copy-and-paste template.
How many days a week do I train?
At least 3 workout days a week, and up to 5 to 7 days of work, including recovery days. We set this with you.
How long is each workout?
Usually 60 to 90 minutes on work days, and 2 hours at most. We can customize this to fit your schedule.
What's included in every term?
A custom speed program, a weekly 1-on-1 check-in call, direct access to your coach, and video analysis and feedback.
What's different about in person?
You also get Saturday small-group training, hands-on coaching, a 1-on-1 session to learn the main lifts, and tests timed by your coach.
How do I book a Saturday session?
Use your booking link. We have multiple time slots available on Saturdays.
How big are the Saturday groups?
5 to 6 athletes.
Where are in-person sessions held?
It depends on the session. We choose the location case by case and tell you where to go.
What happens if the weather is bad?
We have workouts ready for bad weather days.
How does online training work?
You follow your plan on your own, log your workouts, send video for feedback, and have a weekly call with your coach.
How does testing work if I'm online?
You come in person on testing days and a coach times you.
How does testing work if I live out of state?
We set it up case by case. We'll work with you to find where you can train and how your tests get measured.
Where do I see my workouts?
In your own online portal. You check off each workout and can add how it felt, any pain, notes and video.
What is the weekly check-in?
A 20-minute 1-on-1 call with your coach, every week.
How do I reach my coach?
Through a group text with you, a parent and both coaches. We reply within 24 hours.
What if I miss a check-in?
Reschedule it for another time that same week.
What if I miss a Saturday session?
Tell us at least 24 hours before. You can move to another session that week or the next week. You get 1 make-up per term.
What happens over the holidays?
Over Thanksgiving, winter break and spring break, you can follow a lighter plan or pause. Paused weeks get added to the end of your term.
Will you help with sleep and nutrition?
We're building guidance on both right now. See "What we're working on" on our home page.
Options and seasons
Which option can I choose?
Online is available all year. In person runs in Summer and Fall. Winter and Spring are online only.
When are the seasons?
Spring: Mar 20 to Jun 20. Summer: Jun 21 to Sep 21. Fall: Sep 22 to Dec 20. Winter: Dec 21 to Mar 19.
What if my in-person term runs into Winter or Spring?
Those weeks switch to online, and you pay the online rate for them.
Can I change my plan after I start?
No. Once your term starts, you can't switch between online and in person or move your dates. The only changes are the ones listed here: in-person weeks switching to online in Winter and Spring, holiday pauses, and make-up sessions.
Are spots limited?
Yes. We take 15 athletes each in Winter, Spring and Fall, and 25 in Summer.
Pricing and payment
How much does it cost?
Online is $900. In person is $1,500. Both cover a full 12-week term.
How do I pay?
You can pay upfront, or in 3 monthly payments.
Can I pay monthly?
Yes. You can split it into 3 payments with no extra fee: $300 a month for online, or $500 a month for in person.
When are monthly payments due?
Before Week 1, Week 5 and Week 9.
How much is a term that mixes both?
In-person weeks are $125 and online weeks are $75. The calculator in our pricing section shows your exact total.
What is the Founding Athletes discount?
Our first 5 athletes get 80% off their first term. That's $180 for online or $300 for in person.
Does the discount last after my first term?
No, it's for your first term only. Founding Athletes also get priority enrollment for their next term.
What is the $50 deposit?
It holds your spot for a future season. It goes toward your total. If you change your mind before Week 1, you get all $50 back.
Do you offer sibling or referral discounts?
Not right now.
Can I cancel?
Before Week 1, yes, for a full refund. After Week 1, payments can't be refunded and any remaining monthly payments are still due. The guarantee and injury refunds are the exceptions.
How do I continue after 12 weeks?
We'll talk about it around Week 11. Returning athletes get a priority spot and don't pay a deposit.
The guarantee
What is the guarantee?
Get measurably faster by Week 6, or get 100% of your money back.
What does "measurably faster" mean?
Any improvement on your Day 1 test.
What test do you use?
A timed or measured speed test that fits your sport. Your coaches choose it on Day 1.
What do I have to do to qualify?
Make your payments on time, complete and log at least 90% of your workouts, attend your weekly check-ins or reschedule them that week, retest under the same setup as Day 1, and report any injuries.
Does it cover monthly payments?
Yes. We refund what you've paid and cancel the rest.
How long does a refund take?
Within 14 days of approval, back to your original payment method.
What if I'm injured when it's time to retest?
Report it to us. Missed time moves your retest later.
Results
How much faster will I get?
It's different for every athlete, so we can't promise a number. We do guarantee you'll be measurably faster by Week 6, or you get your money back.
Can speed really be trained?
Yes. Speed is a skill, not a gift, and skills can be built.
Can you get me recruited or on the team?
We can't promise roster spots, playing time or college recruitment. Our job is to make you faster.
Safety and parents
Is it safe?
Speed and strength training carries some risk, like muscle strains. We can change or stop training at any time for safety, and we may ask for a doctor's OK before you continue.
What if I feel pain or get hurt?
Stop and tell us right away.
What if an injury stops me from training?
With a doctor's note, we refund the weeks you can't attend and lower any remaining payments.
What do parents need to do?
Sign the client agreement and waiver if the athlete is under 18, get the athlete to in-person sessions, and join the group text.
Can parents come to sessions?
Yes. Parents are welcome to come.
How will parents stay updated?
Through the group text, plus a short update each week.
Will you post photos or videos of my athlete?
Only if you say yes. Training videos stay private. You choose whether we can use photos, videos or results publicly, and you can change your mind any time by text.
